  1. The name of the landlord of this place was Colonel Butler. He owned a lot of land and he had some land in Kilkenny. He lived in Ballyline and he never evicted anyone. He was a very kind Landlord. He gave work to all the people in the village near him and they were not his tenants.
    He allowed them time to do their own work. Every poor person that came to his door got a meal and some flannel clothes. There is a story told about a poor man who came to his door one morning looking for food and the Colonels breakfast was ready and his son gave it to the poor man and the cook got a fright when his Colonel came for his breakfast and she did
