  1. Bands of gipsies and tinkers visit Ennis regularly and go around the town selling small articles and begging. Long ago men and women used travel singly from district to district, getting food and shelter as they went along. After a while they were very well known and always received shelter in the same houses. Very few of those solitary travellers are to be seen at present.
