  1. Cures for Spasms
    Spasms, or sharp attacks of internal pain, arising from flatulence or imperfect digestion, may be cured by eating slowly and by avoiding over-eating especially. Potatoes should be avoided and stale bread alone should be taken, while it is important to avoid excess of green vegetables. A useful draught for the cure of "Spasms" of this kind is made as follows:-
    Essence of ginger, 10 drops; aromatic spirit of ammonia, 1/2 drachm; tincture of gentian
