    In the town-land of Drumbee on the road between Kilnaleck and Ballinagh and about a half a mile from the town stands an ash tree which is one of the many monument trees in the district.
    Of the many traveller's that pass that way few notice the tree or realise why it was put there. These monument tree's were used to direct funerals on their way to Kill grave-yard.
    When the funeral party reached one of these monument trees the corpse was laid down and the rosary recited and then the funeral party proceeded to the next monument tree. Other monument trees are situated in the townland's of Foxfield & Mull Castle. These tree's all seem to lead from Kill-grave-yard
