Mr Pollock Balling was the man who collected the tithes of this district.Mr. Bell Drumcarbin was another landlord and he was shot at Crossdoney by a man named Dolan who lived in Drumcarbin. On the day of his funeral it was said that every Catholic house from Crosserlough to Drumcarbin was to be burned. When the Catholic's heard this they all gathered to the hillside armed but when the Protestant were coming back from the funeral their courage failed and they went home quietly.
