- Signs of Bad Weather:-
The pale colour of the sun when setting, the circle round the moon, the rainbow in the morning, the extra heat from the fire, the dark colour of the sky as the clouds are running through it, stars falling, wild birds flying inland and the curlews whistling, the midges in large numbers overhead, the farm animals with their backs towards the hedges, wells overflow, the water in the lakes changes to a dark colour, water-pipes from the sun, geese flying, dust rising on the roads, the cat sitting with her back near the fire, or scraping wood with her claws, soot falling down the chimney, the dog eating grass or crying, pains in the old peoples' limbs, the mist in the form of a cap on top of the mountain, and seeing the robin coming to the door.
Signs of Good Weather:-
The sun setting in a strong red colour, the rainbow in the evening. There is an old saying which is a good sign of the weather that is to come:-
A rainbow in the morning is the shepherd's warning,
A rainbow at night is the shepherd's delight.
The smoke going up straight from the chimney and the blue colour of the sky.
