  1. Drownings.
    Pat Carty and William Devine went out on Bunerky Lake which is in Co. Cavan in a cot for turf which were at the other side of the lake. When they were about midways in the lake on their way back, the cot began to sink with the weight of the turf, but they succeeded in getting it safely to the shore.
    Michael and Pat Prior of Leitrim went into a cot which was on Comagh Lake shore. When they were in it, it drifted out on the lake and they had no oars to get back. When it was a furlong out on the lough one of the men jumped out of the cot, and got to the shore and the cot drifted to the other side of the lake and the other man got safe.
    Bathing.
    A man by the name of Mac Tague was drowned while bathing in Cormagh Lake Co. Leitrim. A man by the name of Mac Manus of Cortoon was drowned in Bunerky Lake when
