    HUrling and football are
    both old games but hurling is
    the oldest. There were twenty one
    men on each side long ago. They
    way the dressed was a football

    the goal posts long ago was the same
    as they are now but two more
    posts for points. One goal would
    beat any amount of points. The
    football was not kicked from
    townland to townland in this
    portion of the country. Hurling was
    played locally in this district
    long ago. The hurleys were
    made from holly and it is
    said that they were better
    than the ones that are used now.
