be cured. They usually leave some little thing after them near the well and whoever takes it will also take the wart. St. Patrick made the well in Kilpatrick. One very hot day he was thirsty and he knelt down and prayed and immediately a well sprung up. It attracted large crowds of people in the Summertime to see the beautiful tree which grew over it from the form of a hand. Long ago when people would be going to America they always came to this well beforehand and brought a little spray of the tree and a bottle of the holy water with them. It is deserted now, no one goes near it because the people destroyed a man’s land and he closed it up. This story is told about it.
One day a woman from the Deer Park named Mrs. Molloy went out to get a bucket of water from it as her own well was dry. She put it in a pot to boil the potatoes but it would not boil so she had to throw it out again.
