    Holy Wells
    Tobar Arán which is situated about a mile from my home was so noted for its curative properties that an old neighbour who died recently remembers the time when the people came on the mail-coach from Dublin to visit it.
    Formerly this well was enclosed in a square about sixteen feet across and surrounded by a loose stone wall about four feet high.
    Patients going there to be cured, were required to move seven times round the well, praying at the corner of the wall, and at the end of each round sprinkling themselves with the water. Those who were unable to walk were carried around the well.
    All pilgrims were accustomed to leave a coin or a medal as token of their esteem.
    Local tradition has it that this well was originally situated in a wood
