Two hounds were put after the hare and one of them took a piece off its flank as it jumped over a half door into a house where an old hag lived. Shortly after some one of the neighbours entered the old hags house and found her dressing a wound in her leg. The belief was that the old dame was the hare.John Moynihan - Princ. Teacher.

Two-knives crossed means a row in the house.
Magpies :- One for bad luck, two for good luck, three for a wedding, four for a wake.
A flight of crows alighting on a field near a house + remaining there for some time means a wake in the house shortly.
If a spoon falls it means a fool coming to the house. It also means disappointment for the person who lets it fell.
A straw on the floor means a stranger is coming.
To see a red headed woman first thing in the morning means bad luck for the day.
