Shortly after some one of the neighbours entered the old hags house and found her dressing a wound in her leg. The belief was that the old dame was the hare.

A flight of crows alighting on a field near a house + remaining there for some time means a wake in the house shortly. If a spoon falls it means a fool coming to the house. It also means disappointment for the person who lets it fell. A straw on the floor means a stranger is coming. To see a red headed woman first thing in the morning means bad luck for the day. "Blessed is the corpse that the rain rains on + happy is the bride that the sun shines on."
