- Halloween.Halloween occurs on the last day of October. It is looked forward to with great pleasure by everybody, especially by the young. On that night all the young boys and girls disguise themselves, by changing their clothes and they also put vizards on their faces.
They usually buy the vizards in the nearest town. Then they go around to all the houses in the neighbour-hood, and the people entertain them with tea and barm-brack.
They sometimes, too, entertain them with colcannon. The ingredients required to make this are potatoes, cabbage, onions, parsnips, salt, pepper and also a ring. When the young boys would come to a house with a few young(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
