Rushlights were made of dry rushes and grease
The grease was got from the fat of a pig and the rush was rolled in the grease until it was hard
The dips were made from a piece of wood in the form of a spool and a string of plaited cords was put through a hole that was in the wood then the wood was put on a jar that had parrifin oil in it
The wick was made from strings obtained from flour bags- Faisnéiseoir
