    with turf and then put a layer of stones broken in small pieces on top of the turf. Then he started the turf on fire and repeated this every day until he would have the kiln of lime burned. Then he sold it by the barrel to any one that would need it such as butchers and builders for plastering and stone work and farmers for white-washing and putting on the land as a fertilizer.
