  1. This was told me by my father Thomas Walker age fifty six residing at Bawn Finnea Co Westmeath.
Long ago whlen the danes came to Ireland they built forts for many reasons. After a long time the people believed the fairies inhabited these forts. There is a fort in Lynch's field at Tullyhill Castletown Co.Westmeath. It was built by the Irish in the time of the Danes.
It is like an empty pool about nine square yards in area and round in shape. It is surrounded by a bank with an opening on one side. There are bushes growing round the bank. It is thought that the Irish had dug out this hole so that when they would see the danes coming they would all gather into it and shoot out of it with a bow and arrow. It is believed to be unlucky to cut bushes on a fairy fort. A story is told about a man
