    There was a hedge school at Glenans mill in the townland of Kilacroy. The pupils knew nothing but Irish but the master was against Irish. The children paid the master with potatoes. Sometimes they would bring him one penny per week. The name of the master was Smith. There was another Hedge-School on a hill in Christophers Reilly's field. There is a hollow down in the hill and in the hollow school was carried on. There name of the master was McGrath(?) There was a song writtenabout Master McGraph(?) There was a hedge-school in Jack Smiths field in the townland of Gehenstown. The master's name was Master McGoveran.
