Bolies Duleek - On April 30th children gathered primroses, violets and other wild flowers. They then cut a thorn bush and dress it with the flowers and candles. They sang, danced and feasted around the "May Bush" until late in the evening.
It was a trick amongst the boys to remain up unusually late on that night to steal the girls' May Bush.
The girls looked upon it as an evil omen if their bush had been taken and did not expect good luck for the following year.
