- In olden times a remedy was found for nearly every disease, in herbs, or plants or parts of an animal.
A well known cure for warts is to steal a piece of beef from a butcher's shop and rub it well to the warts. Then take it out and bury it and as the meat rots the warts will also rot. Another cure for warts is to wet the phosphorus on the top of a match and rub it on the warts every day for a few day.
A woman named Mrs. Taylor living in Deerpark Dundrum has a charm which cures ringworm. She gets two ash sticks and reddens them in the fire. Then she takes a stick in each hand and puts them over the ringworm and says something to herself and makes some signs with the sticks. This has to be done three times and the ringworm disappears in about a week. She did it for numbers of people and it never failed to cure any of them.
