    very immoral life and was the mother of several children, all of whom she murdered in early baby hood. People long ago from this from this district had to go to sell their wool and other produce in Cappoquin. Many of them tell stories of meeting with Petti coat Loose of which these are a few. One man was returning from Cappoquin when he met her near Bay Lough. She asked him for a lift which he gave her. His horse was finding it very hard to pull the cart but when she got out it was evident that a very heavy load was gone, as the horse found it very easy after that. However the man got home safely but took to his bed and died in a short time. Another man was asked for a lift. As his horse was already heavily loaded he said he'd rather she didn't ask him. However he said to her to sit up, and she did. She only came a way with him, and when getting off she said he was a lucky man to have given her the lift or he would not get home that night. Things went on like that for years until at last a holy Friar came and banished the spirit for ever. Some say he sent her to drain the dead Sea with a bottomless thimble. Others say he banished her to the bottom of Bay Lough where she must stay until the Judgement Day. Petti coat Loose's right hand was said to be a ton weight. This
