    Another hedge schoolmaster lived at the Rookery

    Another hedge schoolmaster lived at the Rookery (Between Cloneen & Drangan by name Owen Quinn.
    He was a welcome guest by any fireside. He died about 1880.

  3. About the 1830's a young man was kept at Maher's of Cloneen House - helped about the house + walked every day to Fethard to Mr. Walsh the Latin master, in company with the other boys of the parish who were going for the priesthood.
    For years his comerades lost sight of him until eventually Fr. Holden an uncle of Mr. Hoolihan, Cloneen who (Fr. Holden) died a few years ago came across him giving a mision in a church in
