  1. (no title) (continued)

About 20 years ago two men of this place were sitting outside in a field of a summer evening smoking and talking.

    (continued from previous page)
The other man (who was just outside his own house, and was the man who told me the story) thought he would go off to see a neighbour who was sick, but first he went in home to see what time it was. He looked at the clock just a glance and it was fairly dark and took it to be 9 o'clock. So he set off for the neighbour's house to find them all in bed. He came back sat outside his house and had another smoke. When at last he went in he found it to be 1.15.
It was then he got frightened as he realised that it should have been about 12 o'clock they heard the galloping of the horses. He saw that he had made a mistake when he looked at the clock first, and that instead of being 9 it was 11.45
