A man lived near Ballyporeen who had great courage at night. He was often out late as he said that nothing would frighten him. Many a night he heard the fire being blowed. And often he heard knocking at the door. One night as he was sitting by the fire he heard a knock at the door. He said come in and sit by the fire and warm yourself. He got no answer and he never again heard any noise.
