- Long ago people used not wear boots until they were the age of seven or eight.
The poorer class used not have any boots because they had not any money to buy them, and they used go barefoot the whole year round. Nowadays they only go barefoot in the summer time, and the old people say that it preserves and makes the legs hard. The old people were never barefoot, and they always wore clogs and knee britches. There is only one shoemaker in the district and he gets all the call from the parish. The old people say that there was more shoemakers and tailors here long ago than the present day, because they all emigrated to America.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
