    make a living which was denied of them at home. My grandfather, Michael O'Connor, Kilmanihan, Brosna, Co. Kerry who is now 97 years remembers the year of the famine and saw people digging potatoes at 2d per day. Every potato they cut was put before them for breakfast dinner and supper with a mug of sour buttermilk.
