“The landlord of Darragh, Kilfinane Co. Limerick was called Gael and he built the castle, called Castle Gael.”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the castle, called Castle Gael. It was covered all over with stone flags. When the rent was due Gael would raise a flag. This flag was a fortnight's notice for the rent. Anyone who had not the rent paid when the fortnight was over would have proceedings taken against him.
When there was a hunt around the place the huntsmen used to dine there.
This castle fell through carelessness, and the local people drew away the stone to build houses. About a century ago this castle was built. Gael was was supposed to be a very good landlord. The castle was built with stones and mortar.- Bailitheoir
