- Care of the Farm Animals
The farm animals are the dog, cat, horse, cow, pig, sheep, donkey, goat. The houses of these animals are made of stone and mortar and covered with iron. The cows house is called the stall and the horses house is called the stable, the pigs house is called pigsty, the hens house is called the foul house. When you are calling a horse you will whistle like a horse screech, when calling a cow you will say, "sup, sup" and a sow you will say "hurish, hurish". Cows are called by different names such as Blackie, bluebell, bickey, thistle, and Canny, daisy
The cows are stalled with two sticks driven down in the ground they are held there by concrete so that cows could not pull them up. On of the sticks stands up straight and the other one must be loose so that you could open it for the cow to put in her head and take it out again there is an iron on the top of the stall and you must put that iron around the two sticks to keep the cows stalled.Jenny Murphy
