- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)several years, but was suddenly struck with a serious illness, and died before she could devulge the secret. Before dying she did her utmost to explain by gestures as to the wherabouts of the treasure, but they were unable to understand what she meant, although they were aware that the gold was hidden somewhere near. They were constantly discussing the matter as to where the hidden treasure was secured. Finally one night one of the sons dreamt that his father appeared and told him where to seek for the treasure. On the following night he went where his father had directed him, and just as he commenced to dig he heard a chain rattling and saw a dark figure approaching him. He got so frightened that he swooned and did not recover till morning. Then he saw the cause of his fright not far off, in the form of an old mule with a chain attached to his legs belonging to a local farmer. Ever afterwards he made no attempt to recover the crock of gold and it is believed that the treasure is still there and will be found some day by future generations.
