St Patrick's Day The children brought in a couple of bits of a "sally rod" & the mother or grand mother stuck it into the fire & drew it out when charred Then the sign of the cross was made on everybody's arm with the charred end (cold)
Also the girls wore crosses (dressed with all colour ribbons) on their arms to Mass St Pat's Day & to School the following week.
