    No water was used that was kept in the house that night - for some bucket of water would get changed into wine that night & therefore no one used any of the water.

    1st Feb. All put out a brat Brigdhe either on a cock of hay in the haggard or a white thorn near the house. St. Brigid came in the night & blessed them. I've heard people telling of people who saw her going round from haggard to haggard blessing. She was known by a faint blue light she carried

    St Patrick's Day The children brought in a couple of bits of a "sally rod" & the mother or grand mother stuck it into the fire & drew it out when charred Then the sign of the cross was made on everybody's arm with the charred end (cold)
    Also the girls wore crosses (dressed with all colour ribbons) on their arms to Mass St Pat's Day & to School the following week.
