Ar an leathanach seo

  1. We have a dash-churn at home. It is two feet, six inches in height, and eighteen inches in diameter at the top and bottom. The sides are inclined inwards from the top and bottom to the dividing line separating the "peck" or upper portion from the lower portion of the churn. The lower part is about three times the size of the "peck".
    Our churn is thirty years old. The wooden handle with a perforated wooden disc attached to the end of it is called the churn's dash. The lid is fitted lightly into the upper part of the "peck". There is a hole in the lid through which the dash passes and the "joggle" which is a circular piece of wood with a hole in it is dropped in over the dash to prevent the cream from dashing upwards over the lid.
