  1. Daniel Walshe who was a native of Ballyroan and who is working in Scotland composed "A Dream of Ballyroan" He is about 50 yrs. of age. He composed this poem since he went to Scotland. It is sung to the air "Where Beauty Beams on Fields and streams".
    "Little did I think when a boy
    I would sail the stormy main;
    That ever I'd be to Germany
    Or the sunny shores of Spain,
    To the firing line in Palestine,
    A place of peace and joy,
    A land once glad is now so sad
    Beneath a crimson sky
    The plans they soar while guns they roar
    The wounded sigh and moan;
    I long to be at home with thee
    In a place called Ballyroan.
    The golden sun has never shone
    On a place more fair to me
    These ancient walls, its waterfalls
    The landscape and its lea;
