Protestants and they were followers of the hunt. One day Mr Power told his stable boy that he would ride with the devil that day. Ke was riding on horseback and another gentleman overtook him and they became very great friends. Ke invited him over to tea with him. When tea was over they began playing cards and the stranger was winning all the time. He had just all Mr Power's money won. Whilst they were playing the game one of the cards dropped on the floor under the table and the devil stooped to get it and Mr Power saw the cloven foot. He got frightened and sent for the minister to drive him out but it was a failure. He then sent for the priest and the priest told him if he would become a Catholic he would put out the devil. so Power consented and became a catholic. The priest told the devil three times to be gone and he burst through the wall and made a hole in it. The hole remained in it ever afterward. The Power family are Catholics ever since.
