When they heard the cheers that greeted
    Young Teresa Malone
    VIII
She lies beneath the green sod
    In Ballinkillen chapel-yard,
She saw the "Dawning of the Day"
    Which nothing could retard
She lived quite old. She passed away
God rest her soul I pray
There's maidens still like her alive
    And some are here to-day.
Note: Kilcumney is in the Parish of Paulstown and the Battle of Kilcumney had intimate associations with all the townslands about Paulstown. I found this poem as it is written on the lips of P. Murphy of Baurnafea who is over eighty years of age. The Insurgents passed through Baurnafea and Paulstown on their way to Kilcumney to meet the yeomen. See Chapter on History P. 213.
