- A great epidemics visitied Inistioge about a hundred years ago, called the cholera. It was so severe that a great number died, and nearly all the people of Inistioge went across the river up to Kilcross and Oldcourt. A hospital was erected in a field up the mill road, now owned by my uncle. The people used to drop in the streets. They were four men appointed for taking the people up and burying them.
