There are several old castles in my district and also many ruined churches in graveyards and one of them, tradition says (says) was blown down by Cromwell from a near by hill with a cannon. There is also a story in connection with one of the castles. This castle is situated in the town land of Castle-Eve. It is supposed to have been built in the fifteenth century. At the time of Cromwell it was occupied by a man named Sweetman. Cromwell took possession of his castle and gave it to his soldiers but he told Sweetman that if he followed him to Waterford and arrived before a certain time he would give him back some of his possessions. At this time there was no bridge(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
