- When the sun is red at sunset it is the sign of good weather, when it is red in the morning it is the sign of rain. When there is a ring round the moon it is the sign of a storm. When you see many stars in the sky it is the sign of a frost. The North wind doth blow and we shall have snow. South and west winds are for rain. The South wind brings the most rain to our district.
When the swallows fly low it is for bad weather, and when they fly high it is for good weather. Seagulls come inland as a sign of storm. When cows or horses and other animals go for shelter it is a bad sign. A cat sits with her back to the fire or else washes her face when it is going to rain.- Bailitheoir
