- We have a churn at home. Its height is about two feet two ins and its width is about one a half feet, at the top and bottom. Its age is about five years. The parts of it are the staff, the lid, the cop, and the parts for taking off the butter are the butter strainer and the butter dish and the butter boards (dish). These are all made of wood even the churn its self. Butter is made about once a week, in the Winter and twice in the Summer. My mother, my sister and my-self churn. If any one comes in they take a brash. It is said it is unlucky if they do not take a brash. Once a man came into a house where churning was going on. He also went out again with out taking a brash.
