    in this district ever witnessed such a scene as that snow-storm.
    On August 15th 1931 a dreadful cloud burst took place. It continued to pour rain all day long, till at length, lakes, rivers and all low lying land were overflown. Fountains of rain ran down through slopes and in the hollows in the fields and bogs great lakes of water rested. In many places the people were walking to their knees in water, and fowls of the farm were swept away by the strong flow of the water. It was the worst rain that ever occurred in the vicinity for years.
    On the 20th June 1914 a disasterous burning took place in the locality. A house the property of John Coen took fire and was burned to the ground. Strong efforts were made by courageous neighbours to quench the fire but their efforts were not successful. This is the only outbreak of fire that ever occurred in this district.
