  1. There are several roads both old and new in the district. Some roads are known by special names such as the "bog road" "Owenie's road" and the "old road". Those are all old by-roads some of which lead to the main roads. The "bog road" is the road by which people go to the bog. The "old road" is a road which people travelled to Mass before the present one was made.
    "Owenie's road" was named after an old man of that name which lived on the road-side.
    Most of these roads were made during the famine period as relief work. These roads are
