  1. Long ago in this district the people made their own shoes from hide and sheep skin but later on shoemakers were introduced into the district and the shoes were made from leather. There is a traditiont hat is was an American was the first shoemaker that came to Carnaree. Some of the people of Carnaree say is name was Miccál Hennessy.
    The children of this district begin to wear shoes at the age of seven years. There is a story told about a man named Joseph Quinn who never wore a shoe till he was twenty five years. He went barefooted all this time winter and winto summer
