- It was mostly oaten meal bread, potato cake, and boxty was eaten long ago. Mr Doyle had a mill for grinding oats and corn. It was worked by water. The mill was built beside the river in Coolaney, there was a race of water going from the river out under the mill and there was a turbine under the mill driven by the force of the water. There were sluices so that the water could be driven to the mill to work the turbine. There was a big shaft going from the turbine up to the top storey of the mill. There were four storeys in it.
