    to the Cabin and there in the table were five plates and on the fire were two pots. They went up to Mr. Briggs and he said that there must have (had) been a fight. They found a hatchet embedded in the railings and the mate said that there was no fight (h) it was an Octpus that attacked the vessel and killed the men one by one and that one of the men tried to kill it with a hatchet.
