There was a flag on the island on which the people could light a fire whenever they were out of turf.
The place where the Saint used to come out in his boat is a place of refuge during storm as that part of the sea is always calm.
In the chapel on the island the place can be seen where the Saint was burned to death.
St Moliase lived out here on the mainland too. It was at Moneygold Cross he was when St Columkille went to him for Absolution after the “Battle of the Book”.
