    were awakened by the sighs of a woman in great distress. Fr Deniston P.P. (he was in Cloone before Fr Conefry) told me that the door was locked when he came to Cloone in 1917 and that he never opened it. Fr Conefry told me that when he came to Cloone he had the room done up and had mass said in it and that he slept in it himself and found nothing. Some of his servants slept in it for a while but for one reason or another it is vacant again.

    Long ago people used to lift fresh corpses out of the grave and the doctor used to give 5 pounds for each corpse. There was five men in Aughavas and they were noted for stealing corpses so this night two other men said they'd give them a fright that would cure them of stealing the corpses. So they hid near the graveyard and the two men came and they took up the corpses and put it in a bag. The two men who were hiding came running up to them and they robbers thought it was the police so they ran and left the corpses in the bag. So the two said
