The Reason is:
A local fisherman was bringing home a sack of eels and a priest belonging to St Kellán's (Cillian) abbey in Feenagh met him and asked him for some of the catch. The fisherman refused to give him any and the Priest told him there would never be another eel caught in the lake. Nor was there.
