    night, the bail fires were alight,
    And the villagers danced round the sycamore tree,
    The old piper was there, and his music was rare.
    O, it made their hears flutter with pleasure and glee.
    "To the light of the moon" was their favourite tune,
    They danced with light hearts,
    O the spirits were light and their eyes sparkled bright as they merrily tripped it to Patrick's day.
