    Most people get married at Shrove. They don’t get married in Lent or Advent. The month of May is the lucky month. There is an old rhyme which tells the lucky and the unlucky days. This is the rhyme.

    The match is usually made in the man’s house. In some places the girl’s father stocks the land for her. In other places the girl gets a fortune. Some people get married in the morning and go away some place for the honeymoon. Others have a wedding and get married in the evening. Then they have a dance that night and all the neighbours are invited to the dance. Usually boys dress up and visit the house and
