house in order to get to confession. When he reached the priest's house there were many people waiting, and he was obliged to wait his turn.
While he was waiting he saw a large piece of bacon hanging to the roof. At first he thought he would take it, but afterwards he thought he would be commiting a sin by doing so.
Eventually he took the bacon and hid it under his coat. He thought of the fine dinner he would have when he would go home, as his wife had put on a pot of potatoes before he had left.
When he went in to Confession he thought of the piece of bacon he had stolen, and he said to the priest, "Father I have stolen a piece of bacon but I will give it to you". "No" said the priest "I will not take it, but you can give it to the owner," The owner would not take it" said the man "Well, then" said the priest "you can take it yourself."
