- In Donegal, in the dim and distant ages, the storytellers relate to us the following story.
Once there was a prince who would not walk, if he could help it. When he went out he sat in a car, and his nurses had to lift him into it, for he would not go a step by himself. At last, his legs got rusty and he could not walk at all, but had to be lifted in and out of bed until he was tired of being helped.
Then he sent for the doctors, and one said, I will rub you sir, and then you will walk well. So he rubbed and rubbed, but still, the prince could not walk. The next doctor said. Rubbing is all wrong, hot water with mustard in it is the best thing. So the prince had all the mustard there was in the land, but, still, he could not walk. Then the third doctor said, "The prince must have a shock, and he said very well, give me a shock then, but, if it hurts me you shall have one yourself". Then the doctor gave the prince a shock, but still he would not walk. So he sent for a witch.
